Day 62 Closing in on NZ 2/11/13

 Nov 2 worldview

Position: 43.31 S, 173.33 E

Today is dawning bright and sunny. Wind shifted abruptly last night about 01:00 am from North 15 kts  to south 15 kts. I decided to hove to for the rest of the night and get some sleep rather than tack northerly away from shore. We lost about 10 – 12 miles, but I had a good sleep and my elbow and shoulder feel fine (after a fall on deck yesterday) and not too stiff.

I’m within 50 miles of shore so if there is sat phone coverage I should have it by now. I am going to make an extra effort today as I am so close to Christchurch where I think there should be coverage.  Tried the phone again for 15 minutes but still will not stay connected. I am only 25 -30 miles from Banks Peninsula so I should have coverage soon!

  2. Hey Buddy,
What happened, how did you fall? Unstable decks?Hope you are telling us mostly the truth and you are recovering with just bruises!
I hope you managed a call today with Mary-Lou. She was looking forward to it.
A few more days and you’re off around southern NZ. WE will be in those same waters the last week of January. (Celebrity Cruises).
Stay warm and dry. All the best,
    James

    Hi Glenn,

Hoping you make sat phone coverage as that is the best hearing familiar voices. We are greatly enjoying your vivid descriptions of your adventure. Tis dull and grey here with hints of snow to come. GO GLENN GO.” Oh the places you’ll go!”
