Over the past week, Glenn’s been busy doing a thorough check of everything on the boat and discovered that one of the engine mounts was broken.
He was fortunate to meet Greg, a local marine mechanic who came to the rescue. With his customary “can do” attitude and brilliant skills, Greg helped Glenn lift the engine out, remove, weld and replace the broken motor mount and finished the job in just a few hours.
It was an epic repair job, and without Greg, would have been a very difficult job to do alone. Special thanks to Greg for saving the day.
The ham radio is now repaired and arrived by courier from Auckland yesterday. With luck Glenn will be back ‘on the air’ very soon.
In a recent text message he said “I’m beginning to think my return to New Zealand was all part of my destiny.”
Safe travels Glenn. Great to meet up. The kids are looking forward to tracking your trip on your new GPS bleeper. Matt’s planning the build of his library! Take care. McKendry family Gisborne NZ.
Thank you John and family for all your kind hospitality and help while Glenn was is Gisborne. Look forward to hearing from you as the adventure unfolds. MaryLou
Keep up the good fight Glenn!!
