Day 2 November 29 @ 5 p.m. local time
Wind just filled in and it’s quiet onboard after retiring Mr. Perkins (diesel engine) after 15 hrs.
According to my weather man, it will increase tonight. We are running now at about 5 knots with a triple reefed main and Yankee on the pole. Still using electric auto pilot and as the wind increases. I’ll switch to the Fleming (autopilot) hopefully for the night. I am headed South East to pick up more wind around 40 – 42° South. I should be there by morning.
This sail out from NZ is so different from last week’s run. The decks are dry and I’m on deck in skivvies and a tee shirt. No water below.
Sorry about accidentally turning off the InReach tracker. It happened when I charged it up. Pushed the wrong button. The message system is very unique. I was playing around with it not sure I remember how I did it but I will try again in a few days.
Missed my sked (scheduled conversation on ham radio) with Cliff because the engine was on. Hope to reschedule in an hour.
It has all the makings of a nice evening here. A nice dinner and watch the sun set through the hatch while I have tea and a ginger cookie.
