Update on Glenn and Go Fund Me Campaign

September 21, 2020 @1800

MaryLou and the girls would like to begin by thanking all of you who have reached out with support. We are feeling comforted by your kindness.

We would like to update you on Glenn’s status.

Glenn is currently stable, in critical condition in a hospital in California following a massive stroke.

We are working hard to Bring Glenn Home with the help of so many people here in Canada and the U.S.

Glenn did not anticipate touching U.S. soil and as such does not have U.S. medical insurance. We have created a GoFundMe page to help raise funds to bring him home to Victoria for care.

You can find a link to our GoFundMe at the top of the every page.

Glenn’s family would like to thank our many friends who have shown kindness and generosity during this most difficult time. From our local medical team working behind the scenes to coordinate Glenn’s return home, those in the sailing community working tirelessly on a plan to recover West Wind II, and to the friends who have provided us meals, we are forever grateful for all of you and your efforts.

  1. Hi Marylou this is Bing just heard today about the sad news. I don’t know what to says I’m not good at this stuff. But all my thoughts go with you and your family. Stay strong. Glenn is a strong person and a fighter. I hope that you can get him home, so your family can be by his side. All my thoughts are with you.

  2. My Amanda and Nicola have been friends for many many years and unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to meet any of Nicola’s family, including her dad Glenn. When Amanda and Rob notified me of Glenn’s situation, it was obvious to me that he was in serious trouble! I pray the situation gets better and Glenn gets back on Canadian soil. I look forward to meeting Glenn in person, I’m sure he has a tale or 3 that he could share with me! Good thoughts and prayers to all the family. Gary

Hi Marylou So shocked to hear that it was a stroke that Glenn suffered and that it has ended his journey. I feel so far away and wish I could do more to help, apart from contributing to the GoFundMe account. Please let me know if there is anything, in addition to the funding, that would make a positive difference in any way to you or to the girls.

My Dad suffered a stroke, and I appreciate how scary this is right now. I’m sending Glenn healing energy and sending all of my love to your family. You are a tenacious, sturdy, healthy and strong family – may that strength and the knowledge of how many people are sending love, support you.

Thank you for the update, we are so saddened with the news but buoyed by the hope of his recovery and return home. Glenn’s positive energy and zest for life was infectious when we met him on the RVYC docks with our kids a couple of weeks ago – I’m sure you’re channeling that right now as you navigate all of this. Take good care, we’re sending our good vibes Glenn’s way!

  12. Hi Marylou I’ve heard the details from Paul Roberts a few days ago and am so sorry for what you, Glenn and your entire family are facing. I don’t know if there is anything I can do to help, but I have a small idea. I would be happy to paint and donate a painting of Glen on West Wind for the sale of the original and fund raising reproductions, which could be rewards for Go-Fund-Me donations. Let me know what you think. Our thoughts are with you all.
